Charitable DonationsWe make regular charitable donations totalling around £10,000 per annum from the money raised by our fundraising events. Most donations go to local charities with some also to Lions Clubs International charitable causes. Recent examples are: South Essex PartnershipFunding to cover the rent of the Reading Rooms in Billericay High Street to facilitate a weekly social inclusion project for local people with disabilities. This has allowed participants to run their own coffee shop for friends and public every week on a Monday morning. Stock Community First RespondersThis new group of volunteers needed funding for essential start up equipment. They are on alert to attend emergency service calls and arrive first at the scene of the emergency. Brighter Opportunities Through Supported Play (BOSP)A one off donation to help this charity move to new premises in the centre of Billericay. BOSP provide respite care for people with learning difficulties and are now able to expand their services in their new premises. Eversleigh Primary SchoolTwo booster seats were purchased to satisfy the new laws on in car safety for young children. Lions Clubs Norfolk Broads HolidayWe organised and funded a holiday for a local disabled person and their carer at this annual special holiday week run by Lions clubs of East Anglia. Christmas PresentsChristmas presents delivered to Patricia Gardens (local childrens home) by Billericay Lions Christmas Sleigh Neighbourhood WatchEach year we pay for the cost of the emergency telephone line used by the Billericay branch of neighbourhood watch Lions Sightsavers’We contribute each year to a fund supported by Lions Clubs around the world that provides eye screening and funds cataract operations to cure blindness in the high incidence continents of Africa and India. Lions DentaidA contribution this year to another international project to provide screening, treatment and oral health education for 5,000 children in Uganda. We also have donated to the following:
