Fund Raising
The activities detailed below are only a small example of what we do to
produce our income that let’s us support the individuals, charities and
organisations we help. These are not the only means we use to raise funds.
Lions, unlike many other charities, use none of the cash given to us for
administration. The costs of running the club are met entirely by the
members own subscriptions, so you can be sure that when you donate £1 to a
Lions club, that entire £1 will be used for the benefit of others less
well off than yourself.
We always carefully monitor the causes we support; in some cases offering
a conditional pledge thus ensuring all monies achieve our objectives.
Our fund raising activities include:

Christmas Sleigh Collection
Once again the
Lions Sleigh was out and about round Billericay just before Christmas.
This involved being part of the Santa’s Parade at the Christmas Market on
Sunday, 4th December.
Then for 11 nights the sleigh went round many of the housing areas in
Billericay. We also had permission to collect at the local Waitrose and
Tesco supermarkets and in the High Street car park behind Iceland as well.
As always the reception from the public was wonderful. The excitement of the
children was as intense as ever.
In 2011, thanks in part to the good weather but mainly due to the generosity
of the people of Billericay we were able to raise the magnificent sum of
£8,144. Thank you to everyone who made a donation; most of this will be used
to help a number of charities in and around Billericay.
Thank you also to all the members and their friends and family, who gave
their support to come out, helping us to continue this important work |
Music Concert
Following on from our sell out 'Swing Time Again' and 'Billericay on
Broadway' music nights in 2010 & 2011, we are pleased to inform you that
we will be bringing you another music night in 2012 called 'Billericay
Bold as Brass'.
Musical Director Alan Thorpe and his Rayleigh Brass will be bringing
their special blend of harmonious music that only a brass band can create.
This is being planned for Friday, 8th June 2012 at the Emmanuel Church,
Laindon Road, Billericay.
Continue to watch this space for forthcoming ticket prices and when and
where they will go on sale. |
Billericay Beer Festival
The 2nd annual Billericay Beer Festival, organised by Billericay Lions at
Billericay Town Football Club was an even greater success than 2010.
Close to 1,000 people came to sample over 40 different beers and ciders
and enjoy the festival.
The 3rd Billericay Beer Festival is being planned for Friday 29th June –
Sunday 1st July 2012. See billericaybeerfestival.co.uk
for further details. |
Quizzes
Regular general knowledge charity quizzes are organised twice a year.
The next one is to be held on Saturday, 28th April 2012 at the Emmanuel
Church Hall, Laindon Road, Billericay.

taste nights, Billericay Lions are once again pleased to be able to inform

week of celebrations for Chinese New Year. This will involve 5 taste
courses of delicious Chinese food interspersed with Chinese themed quiz
questions. This event is proving to be very popular and interest in
tickets is already extremely high, so please book now if you don’t want to
