Songs Britannia Quiz - Results
The idea for this quiz first came after we did the Around The World in 80 Songs Quiz nearly three years ago, but when it came to researching and writing the quiz it proved a lot harder than you would image to find enough suitable tunes. Since you always do well at our music quizzes we tried to be as devious as possible, using cover versions of well-known hits, songs that only just made it into the charts and artist names that were changed for just one release. It didnít work, you still did really well with around half the entries scoring full marks. I am still looking for a way of making the music quizzes a little more difficult without spoiling your enjoyment. I have a couple of ideas but I promise I wonít mess with it too much
All the entries scoring full marks went into the draw for the first three prizes and the winners were.
First Prize £50.00 Ė Liz Madden, Hemel Hempstead
Second Prize £25.00 Ė Mrs Gill Mackinnon, Hamilton
Third Prize £10.00 Ė Cliff Greenhill, Loughton
All the entries we received were put into the draw for the lucky dip prizes and the three lucky winners were
Three Lucky Dip Prizes - £5.00 Ė Mrs Jean Williams, Matlock, Mrs Gillian Roome, Upminster, Daphne Rollo, Dereham
Thank you to everyone that took part and for the many generous donations, our Charity Account has benefitted by over £150
The answers for those that requested them by email will hopefully be sent out over the coming weekend (Mar 9th/10th). The prizes, answers and marked answer sheets if you asked for them by post should be sent out during the following week.
Our next quiz, All Stations for Billericay is already available and can be downloaded from our the quiz page - http://www.billericaylions.com/quiz.htm
AOL.com Email address?
For reasons we cannot work out, every so often AOL takes exception to emails from Billericaylions.com and when it happens we are not immediately aware of the problem as it is taking several days for the delivery failure messages to be sent back to us and then they can disappear into our spam filters.
This has caused a lot of problems sending out the answers for previous quizzes and the following newsletter. Last time half the AOL addresses worked whilst the other half failed and Tiscali and a couple of other smaller ISPs also decided to take exception.
This may mean if takes a little longer to get the emails to you initially, but we will keep trying and hopefully they will get there in the end.
This can also happen if you email us, with our reply gets blocked, we arenít ignoring you, we just canít get a message back to you.
We have been asked why we donít publish the answers to our quizzes on the website. As we allow you to download the questions for free and send your entry fee in with your answers, we think it is only fair to only send the answers to those people who pay to take part in the quiz. Entrants can request a full set of answers to be sent by e-mail or by post by including an SAE with their entry. After all the entry is only a pound and it is for our charity account
