Young Ambassadors Award

Amber Claughton, a 16 year old volunteer for Essex Wildlife Trust at Hanningfield Reservoir, was awarded £500 by Lions Clubs East Anglia District for a project she is working on with the Hanningfield ‘Green Bunch’. Amber has been a volunteer with the Green Bunch, a group of 11 to 16 year old volunteers, for two years and loves working on conservation and education projects at Hanningfield reservoir.

Amber was sponsored by the Lions Club of Billericay as their candidate for the annual Lion’s Young Ambassadors Awards. At the District final she was selected as the best candidate to represent East Anglia and attended the National Finals weekend last month with 12 other candidates from other Lions Clubs International Districts in Great Britain and Ireland.

To be selected she had to demonstrate to a panel of judges a record of good community service, personality and leadership qualities and a worthy project that she was involved in for the £500 grant. Amber gave a good account of the many voluntary projects she has been involved in and came away with the £500 District prize for her nominated project at Hanningfield.
